Doing Deutsch in Madrid…

I’m in Madrid for just over a week, which is extremely dangerous in terms of my health. As always, my boyfriend’s lovely family are feeding me HUGE amounts of delicious food and alcohol – i will be returning with a puffy red face and squidgy belly.
Last night in Lavapies, I tried something new – sobrasada on ciabatta. I liked it. Some will definitely be flying home with me.

Something I’ve noticed with the Spanish people is their propensity to dress in very ’safe’ clothes. Lots of brown/beige/black, barbour, burberry and not much else.
I definitely don’t play that game, so received a few looks of total bemusement while wearing my German inspired, full length vintage dress.

QUE??????

To sleep, perchance to dream…

Andres Sarda designs the type of lingerie that evokes memories of fairytales or poignant literature and whenever I’m wearing it, I daydream of Ophelia.

Can we open the presents yet??…

I remember when I used to be out of bed at 5am on Christmas morning, jumping on mum and dad’s bed and ordering them to wake my sisters up, so we could open presents!- can you tell I was the youngest child? #spoiledbratsyndrome

But look at me now.  Almost midday and we haven’t even spoken about presents yet.

But I’m hoping that one of those parcels is playing host to a pair of these babies by Gabriella Marina Gonzalez….

A girl can dream.

Enjoy those mince pies!

Delia and the Christmas jewels…

Special friends are hard to come by but luckily I managed to befriend Deels back in university days and somehow, she still puts up with me.

Last night I popped over to her gorgeous flat and soaked up some of her arts and crafts Christmas vibes…

There is something so lovely about her flat.  The roaring fireplace, the perfectly framed pictures from children’s books (my favourite being her collection of fruit pieces from The Very Hungry Caterpillar) and the zellige tiles in the bathroom.  I never want to leave.

And as we got into the Christmas mood, with origami decoration making, I was glad to be wearing my recently purchased Christmas jewels around my neck.

Aren’t they pretty?

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!

Troubled by Tavi…

This image creeps me out BIG TIME.

For those of you who have been stuck underneath a rock during 2009, the 13 year old in the picture is Tavi.
Tavi has shot to fame this year, as a high profile fashion blogger and style connosieur.

She is actually excellent but as much as I love her, I can’t help being completely freaked out by her.
I mean, when I was 13 all I knew about fashion was that the popular kids at school wore Kickers (yeah, you remember that trend) and the not so popular kids wore plimsolls. I certainly was not waltzing around high fashion houses, wearing 5inch heels by Nicholas Kirkwood. Bizarre.

Tavi writes as though she has been swamped in the industry for decades and it’s her truly informative and considered blog posts that have lead to her being featured in every high-end fashion publication possible.

I suggest you take a look for yourselves.

Le Recyclage de Luxe…

As a lover of vintage everything – including cheese – I was pretty intrigued by the press release for Le Recyclage de Luxe project, backed by Stella Artois.

The project combines vintage fashion with eco chic and they have come up with a number of fantastic initiatives, like Le Recyclage Deluxe Show (featuring Florence et la Machine in one episode), a pop-up shop in Shoreditch and my personal favourite; Le Recyclage Deluxe Online Film Festival.

The online film festival has been running for a full week, playing a different 60s classic French film every day, absolutely free.
Today is the final day, so if you have 90 spare minutes or the boss isn’t watching your computer screen at work, I would suggest you take a peek at today’s slice of vintage cinema: HIROSHIMA, MON AMOUR.

Also worth noting, if you’re into independent European films, is the site that’s actually hosting the online film festival. The Auteurs website allows you to watch a large collection of amazing films online, for a small subscription fee. I am addicted!

Lingerie love (part I)…

I have a few favourite things in life…well it’s actually more than a few – shoes, jumpsuits, old record players, friends, potatoes. I could go on…

But one obsession that I do not focus on enough is lingerie and as I know there are lots of ladies out there who love a good babydoll or 1/4 cup bra just as much as I do, I’m sharing a handful of my favourite designers and showing you what is in my top drawer this Christmas.

At first I thought, ‘Miggy, you can’t put pictures of yourself in your underwear on the blog’. Then about five minutes later I thought, ‘why the hell not?!’… So f*ck it, here we go…

I didn’t want to cram too many different designers into one post and as I am in love with so many different knicker wizards,  I’m going to have to spread this out over two or three posts.

But for now, let me tell you about these four…

Naughty Janet – This spin-off line from the Janet Reger underwear range, does exactly what it says on the tin.  Not for the faint hearted, this cheeky winter collection is full of ’sans crotch’ panties and bras like these (NSFW) – but seriously, how amazing would that bra look over a white T-shirt?!! It’s on the Christmas list.

But the piece I just had to have was the romper that I’m wearing above.  So many different degrees of AMAZING.

Made by Niki - I think Niki and I could be very good friends.  She’s definitely my kinda gal’.  The brand combines luxury, youth and vintage inspiration, to create underwear that you will always want to wear as outerwear.  So pretty, so sexy, so so so…. Just look at those colours in the pieces shown above.  Orange, purple and pink? Yes please.

Kriss Soonik - This label is the definition of cute.  With fairytale influences for the current collection, Kriss Soonik is really grabbing the attention of my credit card.  The gorgeous high-waisted knickers that I’m modelling are going to be a firm Christmas favouite- GET SOME.  And don’t even get me started on this lace body.  WANT.

Lascivious – Remember when collecting characters from Sylvanian Families, was all you cared about?  Well that childhood longing is what I feel every time I visit the Lascivious website.  There is just so much beauty and I CAN NOT WAIT to fill my life with every single piece.

So far, I’ve been a sucker for the bridal collection (as seen above..and no, I have no plans to be a bride) but there is not a single collection that I dislike.  Check this baby out.  Perfection.

I think you better start making a list for the boyfriend.

Merry Christmas! ;)

And the winners are….

If you entered the Miss Santa Paws Lucky Dip, I’m sure you’re biting your nails and looking terribly anxious right about now…  I know, it’s a BIG DEAL.

So without further ado, here is my slightly long and unnecessary video of me drawing the winning names from a Christmas stocking…

***Wait, REWIND… did I just say Alison Molyneaux??? shiiiiit sorry PPQ! It’s AMY Molyneaux!! I was having a convo about Alison Moyet’s breasts (don’t ask) before filming this…I think that’s where the confusion came from. eeek.

Anyway, well done to the winners. Expect an email very soon ;)
